Marian Consecration: Do it! Live it!
Consecrate yourself to Mary so that she can form us into saints and bring us closer to Jesus.
“I cannot think of greater happiness than total consecration to the Immaculata.”
- St. Maximilian Kolbe
Marian Consecration is the surest and quickest way to become a saint. Through consecration, we give our heart, body and soul to the Immaculata, uniting our wills with her will. Our Lady, whose will was always united to God's will, then perfects all our thoughts and acts to make them most pleasing to God. Marian Consecration, then perfects our sanctification, and the M.I. (Militia of the Immaculate) is an organization of those who are consecrated to evangelize this apostolate and bring more souls to Jesus through Mary, in order to bring about the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
St. Maxilimilain Kolbe's method of Marian Consecration is rooted in the Immaculate Conception, her relationship with Jesus as Mother, and the Holy Spirit as Spouse. Because she is without sin, the will of the Immaculata is strictly and perfectly united to the Will of the Holy Spirit. As the Immaculate Conception, therefore, Mary can never be a barrier between God and us for she is perfectly and totally united to God and incapable of doing anything apart from the Will of God. As such, we are giving ourselves completely to Jesus to do His Will in consecrating ourselves to the Immaculata.
St Maximilian invites us to consecrate ourselves to Mary by wearing the Miraculous Medal, praying the Rosary daily, enrolling in the Militia Immaculatae (M.I. - Knights of the Immaculate) and solemnly reciting the following prayer of consecration on a Feast Day of Our Lady after having gone to confession and receiving Holy Communion:
O Immaculata, Queen of Heaven and earth, refuge of sinners and our most loving Mother, God has willed to entrust the entire order of mercy to you. I, N___, a repentant sinner, cast myself at your feet humbly imploring you to take me with all that I am and have, wholly to thyself as thy possession and property. Please make of me, of all my powers of soul and body, of my whole life, death and eternity, whatever most pleases you. If it pleases you, use all that I am and have without reserve, wholly to accomplish what was said of you: “She will crush your head,” and, “You alone have destroyed all heresies in the whole world.”
Let me be a fit instrument in your Immaculate and merciful hands for introducing and increasing the maximum in all the many strayed and indifferent souls, and thus help extend as far as possible the blessed Kingdom of the most Sacred Heart of Jesus. For wherever you enter, one obtains the grace of conversion and growth in holiness, since it is through your hands that all graces come to us from the most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
V. Allow me to praise you O Sacred Virgin.
R. Give me strength against your enemies.
Those consecrated to Mary in the way of Saint Maximilian pray the following consecration prayer daily:
O Immaculata, Queen and Mother of the Church,
I renew my consecration to you this day and for always
so that you may use me for the coming
of the Kingdom of Jesus in the whole world.
To this end, I offer you all my prayers,
actions and sacrifices of this day.
St. Maximilian also encouraged use of the Miraculous Medal as a sign of consecration and means of evangelization.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you, and for all those who do not have recourse to you, especially the enemies of holy Church and all those who are recommended to you.
